Over a thousand years of history of the former knight's seat is documented in writing and accompanies the moated castle surrounded by moats and ponds.

The castle can only be reached on foot and is therefore a beautiful destination for a walk in the woods. As it is privately owned, it can only be viewed from the outside.

There is a parking lot on the L323, driving from the end of Meinerzhagen in the direction of Gummersbach (after approx. 3-4 km), from there it is only a short walk to the castle.

You can also park at the Meinerzhagen Schützenplatz and walk from there in the direction of Butmicke (under the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen).
