Nestled in the mountains and forests of the Märkisches Sauerland, at the foot of the Ebbegebirge in the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park, lies the town of Meinerzhagen.

With over 300 km of trails, the meadows, forests, and mountains invite you to extensive hikes. Not for nothing does the long-distance trail "Sauerland-Höhenflug" begin in Meinerzhagen, leading all the way to Korbach in Hesse and offering guided ranger hikes along the way. But also the "Wanderbare M," a stage hiking trail that connects the most beautiful sights of Meinerzhagen, and the Meinerzhagener Stadtspaziergang with its numerous historical and cultural information boards along the way, make every hiking enthusiast's heart beat faster. Those who want to delve even deeper into flora and fauna will find plenty to explore on the WaldAktivPfad in the southern part of the city or on the Moorerlebnispfad in the source area of the Lister, the "Grundlose". With numerous springs and three picturesque reservoirs, the theme of "water" is always present in Meinerzhagen.
Sports enthusiasts can let off steam on one of the three signposted Nordic walking routes, watch ski jumping training at the Meinhardus-Mattenschanzen, or cheer on the local football club RSV Meinerzhagen during a home game at the Oststraße stadium. In summer, you can cool off in one of the two outdoor pools or at the beaches at the Listertalsperre.
On snowy days, cross-country skiers can enjoy the freshly groomed Ebbekammloipe at the Nordhelle, and skiers can hit the slopes at the ski lift in Hardenberg. Of course, there are also numerous toboggan runs where even younger winter fans can have fun.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, you can visit the Romanesque Jesus Christ Church from the 13th century or (by appointment) the Knochenmühle in Mühlhofe. The cultural program in Meinerzhagen regularly attracts high-caliber concerts and shows to the town hall, as well as readings and exhibitions at the historic villa in the park. Recurring events and festivals such as the Schützenfest, the wine festival, the music meet-up, the children's and youth festival, or the children's carnival in the town hall are highlights for young and old alike.
The Meinerzhagen tourist information office in the town center gladly provides information about these and numerous other leisure activities, and is mostly open on weekends and public holidays.
