Since November 2023, the two inspectors Anne Reucker and Angelika Zahahluk from the Biggesee-Listersee Tourism Association have also been offering the "Quality Host Wanderbares Deutschland" certification in the Biggesee-Listersee Nature Discovery Area. The seal is aimed at hiking-friendly accommodation and restaurants.
The German Hiking Association acts as an umbrella organization, uniting 58 regional member associations with over 600,000 members in more than 3,000 local groups, with the aim of improving and promoting sustainable hiking tourism in Germany. The advantages of such certification for businesses are manifold. By becoming a member of "Qualitätsgastgebern Wanderbares Deutschland", they become part of a nationally established quality brand. This not only increases the attractiveness for the target group of hikers, but also enables internal quality optimization. Better ratings can be the result, as the classification is based on clear quality criteria. Another plus point is the free presence on the "Wanderbares Deutschland" website. Here, businesses can be listed with a map and contact details, which facilitates direct booking inquiries. This information can also be found in well-known map series from KOMPASS, on germany.travel (DZT), at Viabono and in the hiking guides published by Esterbauer. The representative presence at trade fairs and specialist events by the German Hiking Association (DWV), in particular at the German Hiking Day, gives companies a unique opportunity to position themselves in the industry. At the same time, the use of social media such as Facebook enables effective public relations work. Companies can further increase their reach through competitions, special promotions for end consumers and discounted marketing offers via DWV cooperation partners. Regional marketing and cooperation with tourism partners offer additional benefits for participating businesses.
