The recently published tourism acceptance study carried out by Sauerland-Tourismus e.V. between the summer and autumn vacations shows above-average positive ratings and a high level of tourism acceptance among locals in the Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area with the member municipalities of Attendorn, Drolshagen, Meinerzhagen, Olpe and Wenden.

A total of around 2,000 locals across the Sauerland took part in the study, 237 of whom were from the Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area. The study deals with questions about the tourist offer and infrastructure as well as their perception and use. It therefore provides valuable insights into the attitudes of the local population towards tourism in the region.

The study makes it clear that there is a positive acceptance of tourism throughout the Sauerland. The evaluation for the Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area shows an above-average rating of between 70 and 80 % in all areas surveyed, particularly with regard to the offer and infrastructure for the tourist themes of hiking, cycling, water, leisure and sightseeing. Negative perceptions include seasonal increases in traffic, motorcyclists and the impact on nature.

Anne Reucker, Head of the Biggesee-Listersee Tourism Association, is delighted with the good results: "The clear majority of our locals are very positive about tourism in the Biggesee-Listersee Nature Discovery Area. The topics rated particularly highly in the study correspond to the experiences that we market for the destination. We will take the suggestions gained into account in our strategic orientation and future tourism development in order to tailor our offer even better to the needs of tourists and locals."
