As guests in the forest, we show understanding, respect and correct behavior to ensure the use, protection and recreation of our forest.
The A3 circular hiking trail leads hikers along a beautiful and varied forest path between the Listertal nature reserve and the Heimchetal nature reserve, over the heights of the Benzel at 447 meters above sea level and impresses with its diverse flora and fantastic views. To cross the Heimchetal valley, there is a descent and a corresponding ascent before the mostly asphalted path leads through the settlement of Eseloh, a beautiful small wooded area and a few hundred meters along the country road.
At the starting point of the hiking route, a radio play station of the "Magical world of legends at the top of the Volme" awaits all legend fans. Scan the QR code and immerse yourself in the magical world of legends. More information about the world of legends can be found here.
From the parking lot, follow the marked path with the A3 sign. After a few minutes' walk on the right, you will see a suitable rest area (possibly after a complete loop) and the path continues into the forest.Open, colorfully overgrown areas alternate with wooded sections. In between, there are always great views, either towards Nordhelle or to the south. Now the path leads us down the mountain in a large serpentine and we reach and cross the Heimchetal nature reserve without further ado.A longer ascent now awaits us before we reach the settlement of Eseloh. The path continues to climb slightly and leads us further out across the fields. At the top, the path bends left again into a small wooded area. We follow the path, which looks a little deserted, and finally reach the country road. We now follow this road towards Wilkenberg with the Nordhelle always in sight on the right. Now we leave the country road again, keep left and slowly return to the starting point.
A rucksack full of provisions is recommended for this hike, as there are suitable rest stops not far from the (hiking) parking lot.
The hiking trail runs along the country road for a few hundred meters, so watch out for traffic here.
First aid: In an emergency, call the emergency number 112 and quote the rescue point number. Rescue points are access points marked in the forest for rescue vehicles. If the nearest rescue point is not known, your location can be called up directly via AML (Advanced Mobile Location) during the emergency call.
Hikers should carry a camera with them so that they can capture the fantastic views of the nearby Nordhelle.

From here, theoretically a longer walk (uphill) in the direction of Wilkenberg is possible. Unfortunately, there are hardly any regular bus connections in the direction of Wilkenberg, so we recommend traveling by car.
