The small (d) circular route around the small town of Drolshagen is 20.7 km long and just long enough for a nice day trip. The character of the southern Sauerland landscape is particularly evident here. It is marked with a (d). This trail is ideal not only for sporty and individual hikers, but also for families, as it always offers variety and interesting things to do as well as several ways to get off.

Wonderful views and shady forest edges invite you to look around, take photos, rest and enjoy. The Brachtpe and Rose Valley in Eichenermühle is almost picturesque. A witch once lived on the heights of Steupingen. You should therefore be a little careful here, as nobody knows whether this is still the case.

In the lower village of Hützemert, the small chapel with its peasant paintings invites you to stop and have a look. Sendschotten even has the oldest Madonna in the Drolshagen region in its chapel. And if you walk through Essinghausen, you should know that this village is a gold village and well worth a look around. In addition to the inns in Drolshagen and Hützemert, you can also take a short detour to Siebringhausen and Stupperhof.

Labyrinth

Labyrinth

In 2007, a hedge maze was created in an ideal scenic location above Stupperhof, which takes up six thousand years of history.

Safty guidelines

Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?

In an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the Sauerland-Waldroute is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
