Enjoy nature and discover the most beautiful corners of Meinerzhagen on foot: our "Wanderbares M" stage tour offers all of this. The approximately 50 km long hike, divided into 4 (half) day stages, leads in the shape of an "M" past the Wasserschloß Badinghagen, the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen (the landmark of Meinerzhagen), the Fürwiggetalsperre and through the Quellental and the Ebbemoore to the heights of the Ebbegebirge and the Nordhelle (663 m above sea level).

The route then continues down the valley past the Knochenmühle mill and the St. Maria Magdalena chapel (Grotewiese) to the idyllic Listertalsperre dam. If you still haven't had enough, you can discover further highlights on one of the numerous circular trails following the "Wanderbare M". At some points along the route, you can listen to exciting legends from the "magical world of legends at the top of the Volme".

The tour runs along marked hiking trails and is also marked with a white "M" on a blue-green striped circle.

Directions

The next stage takes us from Nordhelle through various tranquil villages to the Listertalsperre dam. From the Robert-Kolb-Turm, we follow the Nordhangweg downhill to the small village of Mittelhagen, from where we follow the Jagdhornweg until shortly after Echternhagen into the Ebbebach valley. Shortly before the village of Schleifkotten, we leave the Jagdhornweg and walk down the road for a while before crossing the L539 to reach the Knochenmühle, a technical monument from the 19th century. There is also a place of legend here with a bench from the "magical world of legends at the top of the Volme". After this little detour, we return to the L539, which we cross again. The small chapel of St. Mary Magdalene (Grotewiese) is located here on a hill on the edge of the Way of St. James from Paderborn to Cologne. There are seats at the chapel which are ideal for a small picnic. From now on, we follow the pilgrim's shell until the path crosses the Valbert circular route just before the pilgrim's stone below the village of Siepen. This leads us uphill and offers wonderful views of the Ebbegebirge mountains with the Nordhelle and the Grotewiese chapel in the valley. There is also a legendary place with a bench here. South of the village of Unterworbscheid, the trail finally runs parallel to the Bigge-Lister circular trail. We now follow this circular trail for a few more meters before we circle the campsite on a dirt road and finally reach the Windebrucher Straße parking lot, the end point of the Hikable M. There is also a bathing area directly on the other side of the road.Good to know: the "Wanderbare M" can also be discovered in the opposite direction.

Equipment

Different surfaces await us on this hiking tour. Sturdy hiking boots and clothing suitable for the weather are recommended. Hiking provisions (food & drinks) should be taken along.
