Biggesee-Listersee nature experience area / Neusta POIs / Sculpture trail at the Wendener Hütte Museum

The now dry "upper Obergraben" runs between the Wendener Hütte and the village of Brün. Its course is marked by the four works of art on the sculpture trail, which add a new dimension to the experience of this industrial landscape.

On a short loop, mostly on natural paths, you will encounter several sculptures that are thematically coordinated with the Wendener Hütte.

The QR codes on the individual information boards can be used to find out more about the individual works of art.

As part of a call for proposals, ideas were sought for sculptures that address the "elements of the ironworks" and deal with the themes of water, wood, charcoal, steel, iron, fire, embers, stone and ore. Four works of art were purchased: Fire/Water by Marlies Backhaus, Lighthouse II by Volker Schnüttgen, and Erz und Meiler by the Stefanie Schenk-Busse/Björn Busse studio partnership.

Of course, discovering the trail can be ideally combined with a visit to the museum. The Wenden Ironworks is a technical cultural monument of early industrialization (1728-1866) and represents a milestone in the development of the iron and steel industry in Südwestfalen.
