Hiking parking lot Brudertreue

The Brudertreue owes its name to a memorial stone with which three brothers from the Schürholz family honored their youngest brother, who died at an early age and with whom they often visited the Drolshagen countryside. These four 'Schürhölzer' loved Drolshagen and took every opportunity to often visit "the home of their fathers". They particularly enjoyed hiking here on this ridge. Clemens Schürholz often sat here and painted. Here in this rural idyll, he would relax, observe nature and gather new inspiration. The memorial stone has become the epitome of love of home in the Drolshagen region.

Idyll, streams and meadows - hiking tip

The 7.4 km long hiking trail A8 leads from the "Brudertreue" hiking parking lot first over the Steupinger ridge, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the town of Drolshagen. The varied circular trail continues through Husten and the wide floodplains of the Brachtpetal. Again and again, wonderful views far beyond the Brachtpetal await you.

In Hüsten, the A8 can be easily combined with the 7 km A7 circular trail. This leads up to the "Silberkuhle", a mountain ridge that was once a mining area for ores, including silver. Today, the slopes of the Silberkuhle are a nature reserve. Rare plant species such as peat moss, cranberries and bell heather are at home in the moorland and swamp forests.
