The cozy small town with around 25,000 inhabitants, which received its town charter in 1222, is located on the south-western edge of the Ebbegebirge mountains in the Biggetal valley. The Biggetal dam, which was completed in 1965, today offers an excursion paradise for young and old, old and young-at-heart.
