The cozy small town with around 25,000 inhabitants, which received its city rights in 1222, is located on the southwest edge of the Ebbegebirge in the Biggetal. The Biggetalsperre, completed in 1965, now offers a paradise for excursions for young and old alike. The typically undulating landscape with hills, mountains, forests, and lakes is dotted with numerous cycling and hiking trails. The historic old town of Attendorn invites you to linger with small cafes and corner pubs. Attractive retail shops complete the picture. Short, barrier-free paths lead you through the city center and show you the beauties of Attendorn. Biggesee is of special scenic beauty. In summer, it invites you to swim, fish, camp, paddleboat, surf, sail, dive, or take a ride on one of the ships of the White Fleet of Personenschifffahrt Biggesee. In the winter, it's perfect for leisurely walks. Designated hiking and biking trails can be found all around the entire lake.
