Hiking, Recreation, Nature, and Hospitality

Hospitality…
… This is how the municipality of Wenden introduces itself as an attractive excursion and holiday destination.

Lovely meadow valleys and gentle wooded hills enhance our image of the town. The municipality of Wenden is accessible to holidaymakers with its well-constructed network of cycle trails and around 320 km of well-signposted hiking trails. Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature and recharge your batteries – your stay in the most southerly town in Sauerland will leave a lasting impression.

Visitors can also experience traditional Sauerland customs at close quarters in the Wenden area. Fairs with shooting matches and summer festivals are only a few examples of all that is on offer in this municipality.  Every year in August Wenden is transformed into an enormous fairground for the largest funfair in Southern Westphalia – with impressive rides, stalls and lots of good food and drink. Come and join the party – you won’t be disappointed!

Come and explore wonderful old churches and chapels and the Wendener Hütte Museum: one of the oldest charcoal-powered blast furnaces still in existence in Germany.

Guests can treat themselves to first-class cuisine in the traditional rustic village inn or in the fine gourmet restaurant. There are also accommodation facilities in all categories.
